Merrion Square

Merrion Square is a nice park with lots of trees and flowers even in January. Another great place to walk around.

His name is...

He was a Dublin born famous writer and poet. His talent was highly appreciated but he died in quite young. He was also famous with his oddities. He is Oscar Wilde and you can meet him at Merrion Square.

Doors

Nicely colored doors but something is wrong with the last one.

O'Connells

We went to a local restaurant near our B&B because of recommendation by people at the B&B. It was very crowded with people who celebrated new year once stepped in to the inside and it looks like very a popular restaurant. I ate salmon and my wife took lamb which gave satisfaction to both.

Dublin Castle tour

This guided tour is also worth joining if you have time. Tour guide will share pretty interesting stories about Dublin and this castle.

An ironic status?

This statue is standing on one of the gates to Dublin Castle. Since she is standing with her back faced to the downtown, people sees her in the ironic way although she is supposed to be fair to everyone.

Well, it's not so bad

Yes, it is just a beer factory but having another shot of Guinness on top of the facility is not so bad especially when it is such lovely weather.

How to produce beer

You are forced to learn how Guinness is produced once you step in to the facility. Of course, it is up to you to skip all those details and just climb up to the top floor where compliment one pint of Guinness is served.

Guinness Storehouse

After thinking through to decide whether to go or not because the cost to enter this attraction was not cheap and I thought that it's just a beer factory, we finally decided to enter.

Kilmainham Gaol Historical Museum

This is a very unique museum which was used as jail before. Our tour guide shared very interesting stories about people who had lived there or ended their lives there. All of them are also associated to Dublin or Ireland history. Highly recommended tour.

Porterhouse

We went to another pub, Porterhouse, for food and beer. This brewery is small but both red and black beers are rich and tasty. No need to say that those gigantic hamburger and fish and chips are also good if you forget to calculate calories.

Jameson Distillery

volunteered

We have learned how Jameson whiskey is produced here. I also volunteered whiskey tasting where three different whiskeys, American, Irish and Scotch, were compared.
