Around the city

Walking around the city checking site by site according to the map. It was another calm summer day in South Sweden.

Ålesund, the city of Art Nouveu

Way back to Ålesund

Bus picked us up at Hellesylt and took to Øye and another high-speed boat was waiting for us to be on board at Øye. Took another 1.5 hours to Ålesund. A very well organized tour encompassing Ålesund - Geiranger - Helle
sylt - Øye - Ålesund and I can recommend it.

Geiranger to Hellesylt

Took another ferry boat to Hellesylt through "Seven sisters". According to a legend, the waterfall facing on the opposite side of the fjord has been making a proposal. An interesting story but I have a question. "To which one of them do you want to marry with?

Geiranger

A very short stay in Geiranger. According to another tourist, seems scenery from the hills is breathtaking. Want to come back again.

Hurtigruten

Joined a tour to/from Geiranger fjord and we were on board a boat operated by famous Hurtigruten. They were on trip from Bergen to Kirkenes for 7 days. I want to be part of the tour someday.

Ålesund

We managed to get to Ålesund. Ålesund is a relatively small town if compare to Bergen or Stavanger but it is quite lovely and calm. Stayed at Scandinavie hotel for two nights. P.s. the hotel was booked by SAS mileage.

Long way to the next bus stop...

Its Saturday and no bus service from/to Runde. The manager of vandrerhjem kindly offered to give us a ride but the weather was not bad and we decided to take 10km walk with a little bit heavy rucksacks.

Well, its ok to miss the birds.

We missed the birds and they probably have already left their nests this year. But instead, we are pretty much satisfied with the scenery of the island. Hope we can come back here.

Yet another...

We met a big bird and yet another straying goats but never saw Puffin guys...

Bird watcher again

We woke up very early in the morning (4AM) and walked up to the top of the hills again.

Did not find any but...

Unfortunately we could not meet any of these lovely birds but the landscape of the island is incredibly scenic. Lets hope we can see birds tomorrow morning. Stayed at Runde vandarerhjem for one night.

Searching birds...

Birds watchers

We have landed on Runde island which is supposed to be the island of birds hoping to meet a bird something like the picture.

Bus trip up to Runde island

We took quite long bus and boat trip from Sogndal to Runde via Skei, Volda, Myrvåglomma and Fosnavåg while amazed by the landscape outside of the bus windows, interfered by straying goats and surprised by the price paid for hotdogs. A remarkable thing is their punctuality and they operated bus and boat very much accurately almost like clockwork. Also its worth noting that the buses are connected by radio and in case you are about to miss the correspondence to the next bus, your driver will contact the next driver to stay for securing your correspondence. Amazing!

Sogndal vandrerhjem

We managed to walk to Kaupanger central and waited for bus while feeding ourselves with food we got at the glossary store in front of the bus stop. Then somehow reached Sogndal which is a bigger town than expected. Sogndal vandrerhjem (youth hostel) is very much simple accommodation and perhaps it was previously school. The dinning room seems sort of school cooking room before turning to youth hostel. But it was a unique experience and we actually enjoyed staying there.

Kaupanger Stavkyrkje (Stave church)

One of the five stave churches in that region.
