Bye bye Alps

Bye bye Alps this time. See you again in some other winter.

Morning to leave

It's time to leave Chamonix. It was a little cloudy with some snow. We were very lucky about weather this time and everyday was sunny.

They are always there

Both great pioneers are always there, pointing the peak of Mont.Blanc. Hopefully, see you again sometime in the future.

La Calèche

Last evening at Chamonix. We wend to down to eat some good food. The restaurant we decided is named La Calèche. Pretty much tourist place with lots of ornament inside the restaurant but we concluded a right choice after eating.

Walking and shopping in Chamonix

After cleaning up our rental apartment, we took a walk to downtown in Chamonix. He (She) was sitting and waiting at a grocery store. Everyone seems like to have the same idea and they all patted or even hugged him (her?).

Final run

Went back to Chamonix and took the last opportunity of skiing in Brévent before packing up skiing boards and boots.

Cold but some nice time

Still cold but comfortable when skiing in sunshine slopes.

Break with warm drinks

We took a break with chocolate drink and hot wine at a cafe in order to warm our bodies up.

Les Grands Montets again

The 6th day of skiing. We decided to go to Les Grands Montets again because downhill experience from 3300m was so amazing. However, unfortunately the ropeway to access that height was out of service because of strong wind. Besides, the temperature was sooo cold and slopes were very hard.

Soft cheese like cream, like devil

I know that this food is not good for my blood pressure and bad for my wife's cholesterol but we could not resist...

Montenvers Mer De Glace again

After skiing at Domine De Balme (Le Tour - Vallorcine), we went to Montenvers Mer De Glace again. The reason for that is that we missed Ice Cave before because the telecabin to access Ice Save was out of service due to strong wind. Unfortunately, the service of the telecabin was already finished in this 2nd attempt too but we could see Grandes Jorasses clearly at this time

Carving

Since not many skiers or boarders, we could take our skiing pictures on empty slopes as much as we wanted.

Break at cafe

We took a break at cafe in the skiing place. They have a dog at the cafe and looks like he (she?) is very friendly.

Le Tour - Vallorcine

The 5th day of skiing. After 30 minutes bus ride, we reached Le Tour - Vallorcine. It was a begging of another great holiday.

End of the day

Like happy Russians, we also become happy people after some drink.

Hot wine

Hot wine at a cafe just below Brèvent. Happy people behind me look like Russians. 1 or 2 pints of beer should be just like warming up before drinking stronger alcohol for them.

Views to opposite great mountains and peaks

Flègére gives you another great view to opposite mountains and peaks. Unfortunately due to a mechanic problem of the main lift, we could not go up the highest point of this skiing place.

Flègére

Using a liaison ropeway from Brèvent, we went to Flègére .

Montenvers Mer De Glace

According to an agreement with my wife, we skipped skiing in that morning, we took a mountain train to see another famous glacier, Montenvers Mer De Glace. Unfortunately due to fog and morning sun, a famous north face, Grandes Jorasses, was half hidden but we were impressed with the magnificent glacier.

Savoie food

I think that this course is one of the most common meals in the Savoie region. Basically, all contains some sort of cheese. By the way, the restaurant which served this meal is called La Tablèe. It is a small family running restaurant with warm atmosphere. I can recommend.

Chamonix church

Since this is the place for alpine skiing and mountaineering, why not have stained-glasses inspired by those sporting activities in the Chamonix church.

Dancing on the slope?

My partner suddenly started dancing after a short break. Seems like she was happy.

Les Houches

Les Houches may be a smaller skiing place compared to other skiing places around Chamonix. But it can give you another face of famous mountains with different angle.

Ski jumping, well sort of...

The 3rd day of skiing. During waiting for bus to Les Houches, she was practicing ski jumping...

A quiet dusk

After lots of exciting experiences at that day, we saw dusk at Chamonix just silent and beautiful.

Between the heaven and the earth

View to mountains and valley is just amazing and incomparable. The only problem is too cold to stay longer there.

Aiguille Du Midi 3842m

After skiing in Les Grands Montets, we went back to downtown in Chamonix to catch rope-ways to Aiguille Du Midi. It was -25C at the top (3842m) according to the temperature info.
